Mary Schoenheit Stadum has a 30-year plus work history in both urban and rural communities in Alaska and in Oregon. She has extensive experience in nonprofit management, community involvement, communications and public relations, fund raising and grant writing, event management, and economic development and planning. She has worked with people of diverse cultures in many communities and on a wide variety of issues.
Mary’s professional and consulting experience includes nonprofit organizations, local communities, federal and state agencies, arts organizations, and secondary and higher education institutions. She has developed communication and public relations programs and materials, written grants, solicited individual, foundation, and corporate donors, designed public meetings, served as a facilitator, conducted studies and written planning documents and reports, prepared and distributed information to constituents and the media, and organized special events and conferences.
Mary holds a B.S. in secondary education from Ohio State University (1971), with majors in communications and English. She studied graduate level public relations at Southern Oregon University, and she has attended many professional development courses/ training workshops and professional conferences. Mary recently participated in crisis communication training in Portland, sponsored FEMA, and in an Oregon Main Street Program training provided by the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department. She is proficient in computer use, including strong Internet research and communication skills, email application, use of social media, word processing, and spread sheet and database programs.
